I want to tell you a story about a young woman named Tasha. Tasha grew up in the care system, moving from one foster home to the next, never finding a place she could call her own. Every time she would begin to feel a small sense of belonging, it was time to move again, packing up her few possessions in a bin bag. She carried not just her belongings, but also growing sense of rejection. But then, something changed. Tasha met Jesus.
Through Jesus, she was lifted out of darkness, washed of her sins, and clothed with His love. No longer was she a wandering soul; she had found her forever family. In Christ, Tasha became a beloved daughter—adopted, cherished, and no longer alone.
In many ways, we are all like Tasha. Before encountering Christ, we, too, carried our own burdens of rejection, shame, or loneliness. Like Tasha, our lives changed when we met Jesus, who brought us into His family and called us His own.
The God Who Loves and Rescues
This story isn’t new—it’s been God’s way of redeeming and restoring lives since the beginning of time. In Ezekiel 16, God uses a powerful metaphor to describe His love for Israel, which speaks to us, too. He describes how He found them abandoned and rejected, left without care or compassion. God says:
“And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ … I clothed you in embroidered cloth and gave you sandals of badger skin; I clothed you with fine linen and covered you with silk… You were exceedingly beautiful and succeeded to royalty” (Ezekiel 16:6-13, NKJV).
God looked at Israel’s brokenness and saw beauty. He looked at their rejection and poured out love. Just like Tasha, God found us when we were at our most vulnerable, without hope or identity, and He said, “Live!” He washed us, clothed us, and welcomed us as royalty. That is the beauty of God’s grace; He sees beyond our circumstances and brings us into the fullness of His love and purpose.
Our Identity in Christ: Daughters of the King
Through faith in Jesus, we become members of God’s family. Galatians 3:26 says, “For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” In fact, Galatians 4:6 tells us that God sends the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, allowing us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Our relationship with God isn’t distant or formal—it’s intimate. We are not only welcomed; we are wanted.
Knowing we are daughters of the King changes everything. No longer do we need to feel rejected, wandering through life without purpose. In Christ, we have belonging, significance, and security. Like Tasha, we can leave behind the baggage of our past and step fully into God’s family with confidence and joy.
Living as Royalty: Walking in Your God-Given Identity
As daughters of the King, we are called to walk with the dignity and confidence of royalty. This doesn’t mean we’ll be perfect or that life will always be easy. But it does mean we have a foundation that cannot be shaken. When we feel insecure or uncertain, we can remember that we are loved, chosen, and deeply valued.
Imagine how different life would look if we all truly believed we were daughters of a King. Imagine the freedom from seeking approval, the peace that comes from knowing we are never alone, and the strength we would carry into every challenge.
So today, remember who you are. Like Tasha, you’ve been lifted out of darkness and given a place in God’s family. You are more than your past, more than your mistakes, and more than your circumstances. You are a miracle, beloved and cherished beyond measure, an heir to the eternal kingdom.
A Final Encouragement
If you’re feeling lost, rejected, or like you don’t quite fit, know this: God sees you, loves you, and calls you His own. Just as He did for Tasha, He’s ready to bring you into His family and remind you of your royal identity.
Step into this truth, embrace your calling, and walk boldly as the daughter of the King that you are.
